Introductie
Hi, I am Marcela. For me, carrying out therapy is an art that requires mastery. I am conscious that when someone comes to therapy, they are opening their Self, allowing me to have an insight into their personal and private life. This bears in itself an enormous responsibility and complexity. Therefore, I am committed to improve my professional practice every day.
My professional training and 16 years of experience working as a psychologist-therapist in private practice, in both Spanish and English, with individuals and couples, have allowed me to develop valuable
tools to effectively support my patients.
I work from an integrative perspective. The therapeutic approaches I primarily use are Systemic Therapy and Systemic Psychology, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Buddhist Psychology, along with Mindfulness Techniques.
My professional and personal experience has allowed me to immerse myself into diverse cultures, within different places and continents. This has provided me with the unique opportunity to experience first-hand the different challenges expats and immigrants undergo.
I have also been able to gain a profound understanding of the multiple realities that foreign couples / expats, be-cultural couples, immigrants and intercultural families go through. In fact, I am married to a
Dutch man and we have a Colombian-Dutch family, in which I am the mother of two children.
